Brasília – The price of Brazilian commodities went up in December. The Brazil Commodities Index (IC-Br), measured monthly by the Brazilian Central Bank (BC), increased 0.44% in comparison to November 2016. In the year, however, it dropped 5.31%, driven down by agricultural commodities (-11.64%).
Last month, the agricultural sector (beef, cotton, soy oil, wheat, sugar, maize, coffee, rice and pork) fell 1.24%. The energy sector (oil, natural gas and coal) went up 9.95% in the month and 6.48% in the year. Metals (aluminum, iron ore, copper, tin, zinc, lead and nickel) surged 2.24% in December and 19.52% in 2016.
The international commodity prices index CRB, measured by the Commodity Research Bureau, went up 3.35% in December and fell 3.05% in the year.
