São Paulo – The volume of motorcycles sold in Brazil in August was the greatest ever recorded. Figures disclosed by the Brazilian Association of Motorcycle, Autocycle, Scooter and Bicycle Manufacturers (Abraciclo) show that 202,851 units were sold on the domestic market, 8.8% more than in September 2008, the record month up to now.
According to figures disclosed by Abraciclo on Thursday (8), in August there was 25.8% growth as against July, and 24% as against August 2010.
Motorcycle production in August was also record: 217,642 units, expansion of 35.8% over July, 25.8% over the same month in 2010 and 3.5% over the best result to date, recorded in September 2008.
In the accumulated result for 2011, however, production is smaller than in the same period in 2008 – prior to the international financial crisis -, and the best year for the sector to date. This year, production has reached 1,456,547 motorcycles, against 1,473,494 in the same period in 2008.
