São Paulo – Last year, financing to projects reached 28.2 billion reals (US$ 15.4 billion) in Brazil, according to a survey conducted by the Brazilian Association of Financial and Capital Market Organizations (Anbima). According to the organization, this is the second highest figure for the survey since 2006.
The figure is 46.9% higher than in the preceding year and second only to 2009, when the amount was 57.5 billion reals (US$ 31.4 billion) due to financing of the Madeira River Hydroelectric Plant. In 2011, the number of projects was a record high: 74. The logistics and transport industry received the bulk of funds, at 7.8 billion reals (US$ 4.2 billion), 90% maior more than in 2010.
In terms of volume of funds, the transport and logistics industry was followed by energy and oil and gas, in that order. A new sector, “stadiums,” accounted for 7.4% of total credit. In terms of number of projects, however, the energy industry ranks first, according to the Anbima.
