São Paulo – Qatar Airways was named the best airline in the world by the Skytrax World Airline Awards, offered on an annual basis by the global aviation research company Skytrax. The award ceremony was held this week during the Farnborough Air Show, the world’s leading event for the aviation industry, taking place this week in the United Kingdom.
Qatar Airways has won the title of world’s best airline for the second year running. The company was also voted best airline in the Middle East, for the seventh year running, and best cabin staff in the Middle East.
“I am extremely proud of the adulation given once again by the very people who fly – the travelling public, for their support and faith in Qatar Airways," said CEO Akbar Al Baker during the ceremony, according to statement issued by the company.
“The achievements further reflect the high standards that we set for ourselves and receiving the awards is fantastic recognition of the hard work and commitment of our staff across the world who help make Qatar Airways the success it is today,” he claimed.
The Skytrax survey had over 18 million respondents, including business and leisure passengers in more than 100 countries. The survey covered a ten-month period and the questions were answered by telephone, hard copy, and online questionnaires on travellers’ experiences both flying and on the ground.
Passenger satisfaction was measured across more than 38 key performance indicators of performance in product and service delivery, including check in, boarding, onboard seat comfort, cabin cleanliness, food, beverages, in-flight entertainment, and staff service. The survey covered over 200 airlines, both international and domestic.
