Beirut – Last Sunday (5) saw the launch of the world’s longest airline route, according to Qatar Airways. The Doha, Qatar-Auckland, New Zealand flight is operated by a Boeing 777-200LR. It spans 14,500 km and lasts 16 hours and 23 minutes.
The flight back from Auckland to Doha is expected to take even longer, at 17 hours and 30 minutes, Qatar Airways said. So far, the longest-lasting commercial flight available was the Dubai-Auckland route by Emirates Airline, at 14,200 km. The information was released by Italian news agency Ansa.
