São Paulo – The Qatari Public Works Authority (PWA) has floated a pre-qualification tender for intelligent transportation systems supplier companies. Interested parties may submit their bids up until October 13th. The winning companies will be eligible to bid in the tender to develop, produce, supply and implement the technologies.
The Arab country is seeking suppliers in nine different segments: software systems; detection (sign or crash recognition, for instance); information provision; parking and access control; traffic signs, payment systems; safety; telecommunications technologies; and connected vehicle programs (intelligent routes).
Bidding companies must provide attestation of quality management certificates such as ISO 9001, 9003, 14001, 16949 and 18001. Companies are also required to have vast experience in development in the areas at hand; the qualification process requires bidders to describe their last ten projects of similar size and scope to the one they are bidding for.
Companies may bid to pre-qualify for one or more service packages, provided they have the necessary skills to meet the requirements of each package.
“The performance of the suppliers and their associated technologies listed in the contract will be surveyed and payment will be conditioned to said surveys. […]Special attention will be given to how the equipment performs within the Qatari environment (ex.: high temperatures, dust and sand), and any technology with no history of operation in these conditions will undergo a long evaluation period prior to being accepted,” according to a communiqué from PWA.
It is worth noting that the deadline for bidding is October 13, at 1:00 pm, Qatari time, i.e. 7:00 am, Brazilian time. Bidders are to submit two printed copies and two CD copies of their registration. All relevant information for the pre-qualification is available at http://migre.me/g6RD7. Bids and all communications concerning the tender are to be made in English.
