São Paulo – Representatives of the Doha Olympic Museum, in Qatar, will participate, starting next Monday (25th), in the International Forum on Development of Olympic Sports in Brazil, to be held in Natal, capital of the state of Rio Grande do Norte. According to the Brazilian Ministry of Sports, 250 athletes, coaches, sports managers, public managers and researchers, of national and international renown, will be in attendance.
The meeting will be a forum for discussion of Olympic education. The topics under discussion will be the values of sport, the education of youth, Olympic education for leisure, the relation between Olympic education, leisure and tourism, multiculturalism, history and memory as factors for the development of Olympic education in Brazil.
In addition to the representative of the Qatari Olympic Museum, the meeting is going to be attended by professionals from the United Kingdom-based Work Leisure Association. International personalities will also be in the cycle of lectures at the event. Yves Vanden Auweele, of the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, is one of them.
Brazilian lecturers will include Jorge Steinhilber, president of the Federal Council of Physical Education, Ricardo Uvinha, of the University of São Paulo (USP), and Jaqueline Moll, director of the Department of Politics and Institutional Articulation at the Brazilian Ministry of Education.
The meeting should continue until the 27th this month, at the Praia Mar Hotel, and is promoted by the Ministry of Sports and the Centre of Olympic Studies of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (Ufrgs), with support from the government of the state of Rio Grande do Norte.
