São Paulo – Arabian horses of breeders from Brazil, Chile and Qatar participate next weekend, March 11 and 12, in the 36th Inter-State Exhibition at Parque da Água Branca in São Paulo, Brazil, according to the organizer, the Brazilian Arabian Horse Breeders Association (ABCCA). The exhibition is free and open to the public, from 9 am to 5 pm. Pictured, Ragnary, the 2022 inter-state champion horse.
The 130 horses started arriving in the park on Thursday (9) and Friday (10), but the official program takes place on Saturday and Sunday. From Brazil, animals of breeders from the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás and Paraná, as well as Distrito Federal, are taking part. The Qatari horses belong to the sheikh Hamad Bin Ali Al Thani, the ABCCA reported in its website.
The animals will participate in competitions in two classes, Halter and Performance. In the first, horses are led, not ridden, and are judged on their conformation and suitability as breeding stock. In the second, they are presented ridden and moving, in different styles. The events start 10 am.
The competition marks the return of the Arabian Horse activities to the Parque da Água Branca. According to the ABCCA’s website, the venue hasn’t hosted any equestrian events for 20 years, but since September 2022, when the Reserva Parques Group took over the park administration, improvements have been made in the security, lighting, cleaning, painting and maintenance of stalls, track and infrastructure, thus allowing the return of the shows.
