Brasília – The concession model that will provide the guidelines to future call for tenders of railway stretches provided for in the Logistics Investment Program has been published this Monday (5th) on the Federal Official Gazette. Although it specifically targets the 457.29 kilometre stretch that will connect Açailândia, in Maranhão, and Barcarena, in Pará, the resolution of the National Destatization Council will lay the groundwork for discussions concerning calls for tender and contracts for other railway stretches in the program.
The latest investment forecasts for the railway stretch were around R$ 3 billion. The program should see a total investment of R$ 91 billion in over 10,000 kilometres of railroad tracks. The concession will remain valid for 35 years, liable to an extension for an additional 35-year period, but only for purposes of re-establishing economic-financial balance. The procurement process will be based on a sealed-envelope tender at the São Paulo Stock Exchange.
The next stretches to be tendered are those connecting Lucas do Rio Verde, in Mato Grosso, and Uruaçu, in Goiás, and Estrela d’Oeste, in São Paulo, and Maracaju, in Mato Grosso do Sul.
