São Paulo – The Brazilian Ministry of Justice is accepting solo and group submissions of refugee artwork inspired by experiences, feelings, hopes or life plans. Entries will be accepted until June 15.
Entrants are required to have their refugee status acknowledged by the National Committee for Refugees (Conare), an arm of the Ministry of Justice. The contest’s name is Fazendo Arte no Conare: Mobilidade Humana em Arte (Making Art at Conare: Human Mobility in Art).
All visual art techniques will be accepted, including sculpture, painting, photography, graffiti, mural, etc. The three winners will get cash prizes of BRL 5,000, BRL 3,000 and BRL 2,000.
Submissions can be made online or by mail. Additional information is available in the call for entries (in Portuguese). The contest is held by the Federal Government via the Ministry of Justice and the National Secretariat for Justice.
