São Paulo – Registrations are now open for exhibitors to take part in the third edition of the Maghreb Food Exhibition (Mafex), a foodstuff fair in Morocco, due from December 11th to 14th, 2014, in Casablanca. There is a discount on registrations until January 31st.
The fair’s 2013 edition, held last November, featured 105 enterprises from 19 different countries, including national pavilions from Germany, China, and Turkey. The fair features manufacturers of products such as beef, poultry, vegetables, pasta, dairy, sugar, sweets, and herbs; inputs, such as fat, ferment and oils; food processing technology; packaging; and institutional support, such as banks and commercial associations.
Most visitors at the event are retailers and distributors, but representatives of purchasing groups also attend, as do importers of food processing items, and hypermarket chain delegates, among others.
The food processing industry accounts for 30% of the country’s industrial GDP and for 15% of processed goods exported. The industry comprises over 1,700 enterprises, and according to the event’s organizers, it is growing constantly due to bullish demand from the domestic and export markets.
