São Paulo – Remittances from expatriates in the United Arab Emirates rose 13.1% in H1 2018 over the same period of last year, according to data by the country’s Central Bank published by the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
Expats working in the UAE sent AED 88 billion (USD 23.9 billion) to their home countries in H1 2018, against AED 77.8 billion (USD 21.1 billion) in the same months of 2017.
In Q2 2018, remittances from expatriates totaled AED 44.4 billion (USD 11.8 billion), an 8.8% hike over the same period of last year. Indians top the remittances ranking, followed by Pakistanis and Filipinos.
