São Paulo – Renault-Nissan announced on Friday (28) that it broke its sales record last year. Trade totalled 7.3 million vehicles last year, growth of 19.6% over 2009. With this performance, the company registered participation of 10.3% in the global market.
According to the company, sales by the French Renault reached 2.6 million vehicles, growth of 14% over 2009; plus 4.1 million by the Japanese Nissan, growth of 21.5% in the same comparison, and 570,000 by the Russian Lada, growth of 37.6%. The three companies belong to the group.
"In 2010, the Renault-Nissan alliance recorded unprecedented sales and participation in the global market," said company president Carlos Ghosn, a Brazilian of Lebanese origin.
The 10 main markets for the group in 2010 were, in this order, China, the United States, France, Russia, Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Italy and Brazil. In Brazil, the company sold 196,000 units and had market participation of 5.9%.
