São Paulo – Renault sales in the Euromed region, which includes Algeria, Bulgaria, Morocco, Romania, Tunisia and Turkey, increased by 10.7% in the third quarter of this year as against the same period of 2010. According to information supplied by the automaker, the increase was higher than that of overall automobile sales in the region, which stood at 3.5% during the period. According to Renault, the performance was mostly due to the success of the Symbol and Fluence models in Turkey.
Worldwide, the group’s sales grew by 6.7%, at 632,412 units sold. The automaker fared better than the market in general, whose sales rose by 3.7%. Considering all regions of the world except Europe, the group’s sales increased by 21.9%; these regions accounted for 48% of overall Renault sales. In the Americas, the company’s sales increased by 18.2%, whereas general market sales grew by 9%.
Brazil was the second leading market for the group in the third quarter. In Brazil, Renault accounted for 5.8% of all auto sales. According to information disclosed by the company, the New Sandero was the main contributing cause to the performance. In Eurasia, the group’s sales increased by 63.5% and in the Asia/Africa region, there was growth of 21.9%. In Europe, sales declined by 4.4%.
According to Renault, the performance of the auto industry was in keeping with the perspectives for the third quarter. The company stated that macroeconomic uncertainty, especially in Europe, had no noticeable impact on automobile demand. The group expects an overall growth of 3% this year, stable sales on the European market, except for a decline in France.
