São Paulo – Brazilian exports of coffee to the Arab world generated US$ 55.2 million in revenues in the first four months of the year, representing growth of 13% compared with the same period of 2009, according to data disclosed today (6th) by the Brazilian Coffee Exporter Council (Cecafé). A total of 414,000 60-kilogram bags were shipped, representing a 2% reduction using the same basis of comparison.
According to the director general of the organization, Guilherme Braga, the increased revenues, despite the lower volume shipped, “was due to the recovery of international prices,” according to a release issued by the Council.
The same happened with regard to the global scenario. Overall, exports from Brazil totalled US$ 354.8 million in April, representing growth of 8.3% over the same month of last year. In all, 2,254,483 bags were shipped, representing a 9.7% decline using the same basis of comparison. The main destinations were Germany, the United States, Italy and Japan.
