Rio de Janeiro – A request for proposals (RFP) for the lease of the LNG regasification terminal in Bahia (TR-BA) and associated facilities was made public this Monday (3) by Brazil’s state-run oil company Petrobras. Previously qualified companies will be allowed to bid. “The lease is in line with the company’s strategy to improve capital allocation and create a favorable environment to the entry of new investors into the natural gas industry,” Petrobras said.
According to the oil company, the TR-BA terminal comprises an island-type pier with all of the necessary facilities for docking a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) and an associated supplier vessel. The gas gets transferred directly between the FSRU and the supplier vessel in a side-by-side configuration. The gas pipeline associated with the terminal is 45 km long and 28 inches in diameter, linking the terminal to two delivery points.
