São Paulo – Rio-À-Porter, the business salon at Fashion Rio, ended this week, and resulted in US$ 21 million in deals for Brazilian brands over the coming 12 months. The event received importers from 13 countries, among them Lebanon. Domestic market sales totalled 927 million Brazilian reals (US$ 507 million), representing growth of 70% compared with the January edition.
“Brazil is the centre of attention right now, and Rio de Janeiro is a fashion portal, attracting the interest of countless buying countries. Many are the destinations to which the fashion is exported. Quality fashion with differential and design for increasingly demanding countries. Now is the time for our state," the president of the Federation of Industries of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Eugênio Gouvêa Vieira.
In total, the event was attended by 253 women’s, men’s, and children’s brands from across Brazil. The beachwear segment was one of the most sought and ranked among the sales leaders. According to event’s organizers, the number of exhibitors grew by 50% compared with the last edition, in January.
Rio-À-Porter and the Fashion Rio parades received a combined public of 90,000 people, and investment of 13 million reals (US$ 7.1 million). Importers attending the event included companies based in South Africa, Australia, Canada, Spain, the United States, Greece, the Netherlands, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Russia, and England.
