São Paulo – Until August 21, Rio de Janeiro’s tourists and locals alike can go visit the exhibition Challenges and Realities taking place at Bayt Qatar (Qatar House) in Botafogo neighborhood. The exhibition displays the images of students from different countries benefited by the program Educate a Child organized by the Arab country’s government.
Educate a Child is one of the programs coordinated by Education for All, an initiative founded in 2012 by Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser from Qatar. The program fosters the inclusion of low-income children into the education systems through the funding of local NGOS and educational institutions in each country. Since 2013, Educate a Child already provided school access to 11,000 children in Brazil only.
In the photo exhibit, the public will see images of some of these children and also of children from Lebanon, Sudan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Haiti, India, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Pakistan and Turkey. The 20 photos included in the exhibition highlight the challenges that children face for access to education.
“It’s a great pleasure to be able to emphasize the barriers within education that children face through our ‘Challenges and Realities’ photo exhibit on display at Bayt Qatar during the Rio Summer Olympics. Children throughout the world deserve the right of access to quality education”, said Fahad Al Sulaiti, CEO of Education for All, in an organization’s statement.
The exhibition is part of a program that aims to highlight Qatar’s culture and its passion for sports throughout the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
To visit Bayt Qatar, visitors need to register online at www.baytqatar.qa and donate BRL 20 (USD 6.31) to Brazilian NGO Olympic Future. With the donation, visitors will be served two dishes created by chef Alex Atala.
