Rio de Janeiro – Rio de Janeiro should welcome roughly 1 million tourists during Carnival and see some BRL 3 billion (USD 746.6 million) in revenues, the municipal secretary for Tourism Antonio Pedro Figueira de Mello said this Friday (15). On Carnival Sunday (Feb. 07), 11 ships should dock at the port in Rio, an all-time high for the period.
The Rio de Janeiro Hotel Association (ABIH-RJ) expects 85% room occupancy, similar to 2015’s 84% rate. This year the city has 15,000 hotel beds more than it did in 2015.
