Dubai – Royal Queen Açaí, a Brazilian manufacturer which launched its açaí with date bits and syrup on Sunday (16) at the Dubai food and beverage show Gulfood, struck its first deal this Monday (17). Egypt’s Rawda Group placed an order for about 1.4 tonne of frozen product to distribute in Egypt.
“At first they will distribute it to high-end hotels and cafés so people can become familiar with the product. Later on, if everything works out, they intend to distribute to supermarkets like Carrefour,” said Royal Queen Açaí owner Julia de Biase.
According to Julia, Ahmed Eldahshoury, the financial manager with the Rawda Group, was seeking innovative products at the expo. “They found it interesting. They’re here for unique products, and they liked the idea of açaí mixed with dates, which are part of their menu. And the Mercosur-Egypt free trade agreement was an added encouragement for them to negotiate,” she said.
