São Paulo – Real revenues from sales at supermarkets were up 0.66% year-to-date through July from a year ago in Brazil, the Brazilian Association of Supermarkets (Abras) said. Revenues climbed 7.58% in July from June, and 4.2% in July from a year ago. Nominal revenues from sales at supermarket were up 10.27% year-to-date, 8.14% in July from June, and 13.31% year-on-year in July.
Abras superintendent Márcio Milan said the numbers indicate a trend toward improvement. “We are beginning to sense a minor reaction from consumers, who are displaying more confidence. Judging from the numbers we have so far and our projections, sales tend to go up,” he said.
