São Paulo – Sales in malls were up 7.5% in Brazil in 2019, grossing a revenue of BRL 168.2 billion (USD 42.2 billion), the Brazilian Association of Mall Shopkeepers (Alshop) reported. The organization brings together figures from 30,000 Brazilian sales outlets.
In a press release, the association describes a positive scenario throughout 2019, driven by the economic upturn, interest rebate, and increased employment. It also mentions the payment of the 13th salary, which injected BRL 214.6 billion (USD 52.5 billion) into the economy, and interest rebate as positive factors.
