São Paulo – The Santander Bank is going to offer 300 scholarships for graduate and postgraduate students from Brazil, Spain and the United Kingdom to study at universities in Morocco and in American and European countries.
The scholarships, which are valid for the 2011/2012 school year, are part of the Formula Santander programme and will benefit 300 university students from the three countries mentioned above, with 100 positions available for each country.
The programme lasts one semester, and each 5,000-euro scholarship will cover students’ enrolment, transportation, food and lodging expenses.
Several fields of knowledge are included in the programme, and students will be able to choose the course of their interest at one of the 833 higher education institutions that are partners with Santander Universities worldwide. In order to participate, students must be enrolled at a partner institution of Santander Universities in Brazil.
In Morocco, 12 universities are part of the programme: Université Mohammed V – Souissi (Rabat), Université Abdelmalek Essaâdi (Tétouan), Université Hassan II (Casablanca), Université Ibn Zohr (Agadir), Université Hassan II (Mohammedia), Université Cadi Ayaad (Marrakesh), Université Sultane Moulay Slimane (Beni Mellal), Université Hassan 1er (Settat), Université Mohamed 1er (Oujda), Université Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah (Fez), Université Moulay Ismaïl (Meknes) and Université Ibn Toufail (Kenitra).
Scholarship students will be selected directly by the Brazilian universities that are partners with Santander Universities, and the criteria will be published by the institutions in edicts. Requirements include good academic performance, unfavourable socioeconomic conditions, and good knowledge of other languages.
At the end of the programme, Santander will interview candidates interested in undertaking internships at the bank. The interviews will take into consideration the student’s profile and the institution’s needs as of the end of the study period.
Aside from Morocco, students will also be able to choose from partner institutions in Latin America, China, the United States, Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom and Russia.
