São Paulo – The state of São Paulo posted US$ 15.11 billion in revenues from agribusiness exports from January to August this year, according to figures supplied by the Institute of Agricultural Economics (IEA-Apta), of the Secretariat for Agriculture and Supply.
Foreign sales grew by 19.3% compared with the same period of 2010 and were equivalent to 23.6% of all national agribusiness exports. There was a 0.9 percentage point decline in the state’s share.
Revenues from imports of agribusiness products by the state of São Paulo were much lower, at US$ 6.76 billion, generating a trade surplus of US$ 8.35 billion. There was growth of 35.5% in the sector’s imports, which accounted for 32% of the Brazilian total.
Brazilian agribusiness export revenues reached US$ 64.01 billion from January to August, 23.5% more than in the same period of last year. Sector imports reached US$ 21.15 billion, an increase of 47.8%.
