São Paulo – Micro and small businesses in the state of São Paulo should see a 3.5% increase in revenues compared with 2010. According to a survey conducted by the Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae), issued this Wednesday (21st), the segment posted a 5.8% increase in revenues in October as against the same month of last year.
Industrial companies’ revenues grew by 3.8% in October; trade grew by 8%; and services grew by 3.4%. “The positive results during the period, especially for trade and services, were brought about by the heated domestic market,” says Bruno Caetano, the superintendent director at Sebrae-SP.
The survey shows that total revenues of micro and small businesses reached 28.6 billion reals (US$ 15.3 billion) in October, a figure 5.5% higher than in September, when revenues stood at 1.59 billion reals (US$ 855 billion), and 5.4% higher than in October 2010, when combined revenues stood at 1.56 billion reals (US$ 838.8 billion).
According to the Sebrae survey, currently, micro and small companies account for 20% of the Brazilian Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and for 67% of jobs, and comprise 99% of all enterprises in the state of São Paulo.
