São Paulo – The five major agribusiness exporting states sold, together, around 69% of everything the sector shipped abroad in January. According to the balance of the time period released Thursday (19th) night by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, São Paulo, Paraná, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais and Rio Grande do Sul were the five major exporters. In total, agribusiness exports grossed 5.64 billion in January.
São Paulo was the top exporter. The sales reached US$ 1.31 billion and sugar was the main product sold. Shipments from Paraná stood at US$ 698.2 million led by poultry. Mato Grosso exported US$ 672.6 million, led by cereals. Minas Gerais exported US$ 611.7 million, with 62.4% of the total as coffee sales. Rio Grande do Sul sold US$ 602.9 million, mainly products of the soybean complex.
