São Paulo – Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority (GEA) launched an online system to streamline licenses for entertainment businesses and activities. GEA operations director Sultan Al Fakeer said the purpose is to encourage investment in the industry, “which is vital and promising.”
A new online platform offers a clear and simple system through which to apply for the licenses, Arab News reported. The move is in line with the government’s Vision 2030 plan to drive economic growth.
This week, investors and public and private industry players joined the Invest in Entertainment event in Riyadh. GEA officials explained the new system. Attendees were also able to network and build contacts, Arab News said. Fakeer said another initiative will bring together local and international investors soon.
Licenses will be available for activities including “live shows and performances, events, theme parks, entertainment centers, leisure facilities, live entertainment in coffee shops and restaurants, organizing and managing crowds, selling tickets, talent management and operating entertainment facilities,” according to Arab News.
