São Paulo – From September 7th to 10th, Saudi Agrofood will have its 33rd edition, in Riyadh, in the Saudi Arabia. At the event, products of companies of several sectors, such as dairy, meat, natural food, juice, sweets, breads, beverages, packages, food processing and cooling systems, as well as others, will be displayed.
According to information from the trade show website, the food consumption of the country should grow by 55.3% until 2016 and reach US$ 113 billion. Foodstuff account for 26% of the total consumption expenditure and the market imports 70% of their need for food.
Last year, the trade show had 300 exhibitors of 33 countries, including: Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Mexico, United States, Spain, Italy, United Kingdom, Australia, France, Holland and China.
Besides imports, the Saudi Arabian government encourages local investors to produce in foreign lands in order to supply the Saudi foodstuff market. The Gulf country has investments in food in other 35 nations.
According to data compiled by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, in 2013 Brazil exported the equivalent to US$ 2.43 billion in foodstuffs to Saudi Arabia. The main items sold to the Arab country were meat, sugar and cereals. Meat exports alone amounted to US$ 1.407 billion.
