São Paulo – Saudi oil exports revenue grew 11% last December compared to the previous year’s same month, according to information released by the Arab News website based on data from the General Authority for Statistics of Saudi Arabia (GASTAT). The country earned SAR 85.5 billion with international sales of the commodity, about USD 22.8 billion at the current rate.
Oil increased its share in total Saudi exports. It accounted for 79% in December 2022 against 71.9% in the same month of 2021. One of the factors driving the result was general exports from the Arab country rose 1.1% in the same comparison, increasing less than oil. Total Saudi exports reached SAR 108.2 billion (about USD 28.8 billion).
According to the GASTAT report, imports from Saudi Arabia also expanded in December last year, 16.9% over the same month of 2021. They totaled SAR 62.2 billion (about USD 16.5 billion), according to Arab News. The main imports were machinery, mechanical devices, and electrical equipment, which represented 22.6% of the total purchased from abroad by the Saudis. China was the leading supplier, followed by Japan and India.
