São Paulo – A special report to mark International Women’s Day points out that Saudi women constitute 35% of the workers in Saudi Arabia. The document was issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT). It reports still that Saudi women over the age of 15 account for 49% of the total population. Half of Saudi women are under 27 years old.
In July 2018, Saudi Arabia started issuing driver’s licenses for women. By January 2020, 174,624 driving licenses had been issued to the female population. The highest proportion of licenses – 90% – was issued in Riyadh, Makkah and the Eastern Province. The report highlights that the women’s importance for the country’s development.
