São Paulo – From June 5th to 9th, the city of São Paulo will host ‘Saudi Culture Days,’ an event organized by the Saudi Ministry of Culture and Information to promote the Gulf country’s culture in Brazil.
“The FIFA World Cup will take place here (in Brazil) and we want to seize the occasion to showcase our folklore, food, music etc.” says Hisham Bin Sultan bin Zafir Alqahtani, the Saudi ambassador in Brasília.
The cultural week will take place at the Ibirapuera Park Events Arena, featuring attractions like typical dances, folklore presentations, film screenings, a handicraft exhibit, henna painting and others. “We will show songs from the North, the South, the East, different areas of our country,” says Alqahtani.
Dancing will be a highlight of the cultural week, with various presentations ranging from wedding party styles to the dances of ancient warriors.
The ambassador says the event is primarily designed to show Brazilians the traditions and customs of his country, of which they know little. “I hope the Brazilians will enjoy it,” he says. All activities are free of charge.
The ‘Saudi Cultural Days’ are organized in partnership with the Saudi Ministry of External Relations, via the Saudi embassy, and is backed by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce.
