Brasília – For the third consecutive month, savings accounts withdrawals surpassed deposits. The Brazilian Central Bank (BC) reported this Thursday (6) that in March withdrawals reached BRL 4.996 billion (USD 1.58 billion) – nevertheless the lower amount in three years: in 2005, withdrawals reached BRL 11.44 billion (USD 3.63 billion at today’s exchange rate), and BRL 5.38 billion (USD 1.71 billion at today’s exchange rate) in March of last year.
In the year’s first three months, savings accounts had withdrawals of BRL 17.4 billion (USD 5.53 billion), lower than the BRL 24.05 billion (USD 7.64 billion) registered from January to March of last year.
