São Paulo – Some of the Brazilian civil construction companies heading on a mission to the United Arab Emirates this month are travelling to the country to seek partners, including distributors, in order to place their products on the market. The information was supplied by the director of Industrial and Institutional Relations at the Federation of Industries of the State of Santa Catarina (Fiesc), Henry Quaresma. He attended a preparatory meeting held this Thursday (5th) for the companies that will comprise the mission, in the state capital Florianópolis, at the Fiesc headquarters.
The Fiesc is in charge of organizing the trip, which is promoted by the National Confederation of Industries (CNI) with support from the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce. The mission will take place from November 19th to 26th, and will comprise 33 representatives of 21 companies based in the states of Santa Catarina, São Paulo, Pernambuco, Maranhão, Roraima and Pará. The preparatory meeting in Florianópolis was attended by 18 people from all of the states that will be on the delegation. Some viewed the lectures by video conference.
According to the Marketing manager of the Arab Brazilian Chamber, Andrea Monteiro, who spoke at the meeting held this Thursday, most of the companies on the mission do not export to the Arab market yet. The group is very heterogeneous, according to Andrea. Their offers range from civil construction products to services. Andrea presented a survey conducted by the Arab Brazilian Chamber on how the Arab regards the Brazilian construction industry. There was a debate on how to create a more positive image.
According to Quaresma, this will be more of a prospecting-oriented mission. It will take place during the Big 5 Show, a trade fair for the industry in Dubai, and the delegation members are going to visit the fair, even though they are not exhibitors. The fair should be a space for business contacts. This is the third trip to the Emirates that the Fiesc organizes for the CNI. Counting another mission that the organization has promoted individually, there have already been four missions to the United Arab Emirates in recent years.
