São Paulo – A conference in June on cowpea beans will discuss the global market of the product and one of the speakers will be Paulo Henrique Ribeiro de Aguiar, responsible for the origination and processing of the cowpea beans for export at Agribusiness Cooperative Águas Frias (Cooperáguas), which sells the product to Arab countries.
The 4th National Congress on Cowpea Beans is scheduled for June 7 to 10, organized by the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa), at the city of Sorriso, Mato Grosso state. According to the program released at the event’s website, there will be Brazilian speakers and also from countries such as Nigeria, South Africa and the United States.
The goal is to encourage the interaction between the groups involved in the cultivation of cowpea beans and promote updates on innovations, market, technologies and researches related to the product. More than 500 people are expected to attend.
The event’s main topic is “Market and technological breakthroughs and challenges”, centered around three sectors: technical, scientific and commercial. Among the discussions will be the genetic improvement of the cowpea beans in the world, the alternative pest controls, phytotechny aspects, the product’s mineral nutrition, cholesterol reduction associated with the beans consumption, appropriate agricultural pesticides, market opportunities in Brazil and in the world, farming mechanization, genetic resistance, among others.
The discussion on the markets is scheduled for June 9, at 8:45 AM, with the moderation of Rafael Vivian, from Embrapa Products and Markets, and participation of Marcelo Eduardo Lüres, from the Brazilian Institute for Beans (Ibrafe), who will talk about Brazil, Alberto Aroldo Santos, from Bocaiuva Alimentos, who will cover retail, and Aguiar, who will speak on cowpea beans global market. Embrapa will launch the seed BRS Imponente, which is attractive to the exporting market.
There will also be a field day, in which the public will get to know innovative technological solutions for beans developed by Embrapa.
