Rio de Janeiro – The nominal growth of the service sector was 6.8%, in comparison to the same month last year. The result raised the accumulated growth in the Q1of 2014 to 8.7%, the same expansion seen in the yearly rate (in the last 12-month period).
According to the data released this Tuesday (20th) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the services to families posted a growth of 10%; the information and communication services, 4.4%; the professional, administrative and complementary services, 8.8%; transports, transport auxiliary services and post office, 8.0%; and other services, 3.3%.
The data released by the IBGE show that, in spite of the increase seen in March this year, the expansion was lower than February’s 10.1% and January’s 9.2%, both in a similar comparison to same months last year.
The data also show that, even with a nominal growth of 6.8%, the service sector closed the month at the third lowest expansion rate since the beginning of the series, in January 2012, being superior only to the ones posted in March (6.1%) and August (6.6%), in 2013 .
