Rio de Janeiro – Services sector activity was down 0.8% in Brazil in October from September. According to the Monthly Services Survey issued this Friday (15) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), this was the fourth straight month-on-month drop in activity. Activity slid 0.3% year-on-year in October, 3.4% year-to-date and 3.7% in the 12 months through October.
Five out of six service subsectors saw activity decline, especially household services, which were down 2.3%. Activity was also down in professional, administrative and complementary services (which includes non-real estate rental and asset management), transportation and postal services, ‘other services’ and tourism activities.
