Rio de Janeiro – After registering negative results in September and October, the volume of the services sector ended November 2016 with a 0.1% growth over October. Still, from January to November of 2016, the sector declined 5%, posting zero growth (0.0%) in nominal revenues in comparison to the comparable period of 2015.
The data is part of the Monthly Survey of Services (PMS) and was made public this Thursday (12) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). In the comparison with November 2015, the sector slid 4.6%. With these results, the year-over-year activity declined -5%.
The growth registered from October to November 2016, according to the IBGE, came from all segments, with the highlight being Other Services, with a 3.3% increase; Transportation and support activities for transportation and mailing services (2.1%); Information and communication services (1%); Professional, administrative and complementary services (0.8%); and Services rendered mainly to families (0.2%). Tourist activities went up 0.5%.
The sector’s nominal revenues in November registered the same positive variation seen in the volume of services: 0.1% over October and also over the same month of the previous year. Year-over-year, the sector’s nominal revenues also increased 0.1%.
