Rio de Janeiro – Services sector activity was up 1% in 2019, after shrinking by a combined 11% from 2015 to 2017 and ending 2018 flat. The information is from the Monthly Survey of Services (Pesquisa Mensal de Serviços – PMS) made public this Thursday (13) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
“Even though this is a relevant result, it’s still far from a best-case scenario,” says survey manager Rodrigo Lobo. The driver of growth was computing and communication, up 3.3%, underpinned by good results for websites, content providers and searchs, software development and licensing, and information technology consulting.
