Rio de Janeiro – The services sector registered a 0.7% growth in February over January. In the first month of the year the sector rose 0.2%. In December, the growth was of 0.6%. The data was made public this Thursday (13) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
However, in the seasonally non-adjusted series, the sector, in comparison to February of 2016, declined 5.1% after sliding in January (3.5%) and December (5.7%). According to IBGE, with these results, the expansion rate in the year has declined 4.3% and 5% in the last 12 months.
In February over January, the highest growth rates were registered in Rondônia (9.1%), Mato Grosso (8.5%) and Acre (2.5%). On the other hand, the sharpest declined were registered in Ceará (9.8%), Espírito Santo (5.3%) and Pernambuco (5.2%).
