São Paulo – Diplomat Sidney Leon Romeiro (pictured above) received an agrément from the government of the United Arab Emirates to take office as Brazil’s ambassador to the country. The agrément is the consent a nation’s government grants foreign diplomats to take the post in their territory.
“The Brazilian Government is proud to inform the Government of the United Arab Emirates granted an agrément to First Class minister Sidney Leon Romeiro as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary ambassador of Brazil to that country,” said in a release the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil.
According to the Ministry, this is his first appointment to take office abroad. Romeiro has been the director of the Middle East Department at the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2019. The nomination will still be submitted to the Senate, as determined by the Brazilian Constitution.
