São Paulo – The southern Brazilian state of Paraná is going to harvest 770,000 tonnes of beans this year, according to the Department of Rural Economy (Deral), of the Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply. There should be an increase of 39% in the offer, when compared to the previous year due to the 32% expansion in the cropland and 5% increase in productivity.
The 770,000 tonnes forecasted should guarantee to the state of Paraná the national leadership in bean production. The state is going to answer to 22% of the total produced in the total country. The bean cropland in Paraná totalled 560,600 hectares, against 425,100 hectares last year.
