Rio de Janeiro – The increase of 5.6% in the value of the Brazilian agricultural production last year was driven by the record-breaking production of soy and maize. Soy production was up 7.1% and reached 97.5 million tons, and maize production climbed 14.5% and reached 85.3 million tons. The total value was BRL 265.5 billion (USD 82.40).
According to data from the Municipal Agricultural Production (PAM) – Temporary and Permanent Crops, released this Friday (23) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), other crops also registered good results last year, such as sugar cane, up 3.7%, and beans, up 16.6%.
