São Paulo – Company Lasa Brazil Technology and Automation, a maker of automatic presses, is gong to install a factory in the city of Canoas, in the southernmost Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. Investment should total US$ 6.6 million (at current exchange rates) and 80 direct and 200 indirect jobs should be generated between 2006 and 2011.
The company, which has group Mondragon-Fagor as one of its partners, is a world leader in the industrial press market and is headquartered in Mondragon-Arrasate, Gipuzkoa, Spain. Spanish company Lasa Linhas Automáticas, established in 1956, exports products all around the world, also to Brazil, and that is why the company decided to establish a subsidiary in the country.
Lasa Brazil is born with the proposal of nationalizing the line of products made in Spain, making the necessary adaptation to supply the Brazilian market. In a second phase, the company is going to export. This information was supplied by the government of the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
