São Paulo – From October 25th to 27th, the city of Juazeiro, in the state of Bahia, will host the 3rd Symposium on Climate Change and Desertification in the Brazilian Semiarid. Enrolments for presentation of scientific works will remain open until June 30th, according to information supplied by the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa).
The symposium should be attended by representatives of teaching and research institutions in Brazil and abroad. Professionals from Argentina, the United Kingdom, France and the United States should be present. The opening lecture will address reduction of emissions and will be given by the Embrapa researcher Eduardo Delgado Assad, currently the secretary of Climate Change at the Brazilian Ministry of Environment.
The meeting, which had its first edition in Petrolina, in the state of Pernambuco, in 2008, aims to promote the exchange of information, encourage cooperation between organizations and propose public policies to reduce the impact of climate change and desertification in the semiarid. The second edition took place in 2009 in the state of Paraíba.
