São Paulo – The World Handicraft Fair, a traditional exhibition of Brazilian and international handicraft, which has been held in various states of Brazil, will take place for the first time in Teresina, the capital of the state of Piauí, from November 19th to 28th. This time, the event will feature over 100 stands from 20 different countries, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and Tunisia.
In terms of Arab handicraft, visitors will be able to purchase decorative objects, narghiles, marquetry items, lighting fixtures, perfume essences, table towels, cushion covers, furniture, costume jewellery, papyruses and clothing.
At the Tunisian stand, for instance, visitors may find items in camel leather, ceramics, wood and perfume essences with different aromas, such as sandalwood, vanilla, lemon and even the thousand and one nights, a scent created by the company that exports the essences. In order to customize the perfume, customers may also buy a blown glass container painted and decorated in golden colours, handmade in the Arab country.
In most of the Arab stands, visitors will be able to see the famous marquetry boxes, of various sizes. At some stands, such as the Lebanese one, even marquetry furniture may be found.
In addition to Arab handicraft, the fair offers typical dishes from some countries, such as kibbeh and grape juice with rosewater, produced by Brazilians in the city of Teresina.
The last edition of the fair was held in September in the Brazilian capital Brasília. The event is organized by the Charph Promoções e Eventos company, based in the capital.
