São Paulo – Brazilian states will be able to claim 12 million reals (US$ 6.4 million) in extra funds for international promotion in 2010. The amount will be made available by the Brazilian Tourism Institute (Embratur), an arm of the Ministry of Tourism, as a complement to the agenda for commercial promotion of Brazilian tourism in foreign countries in 2010.
The funds will be available for use in creation of advertising campaigns, publications for operators and travel agents, production of image archives and caravans with international operators, for instance.
"The states are allocated funds for international market promotion according to their size. This is still the best format for allocation of funds from the Embratur," said in a press release the president of the National Forum of Tourism Secretaries and Directors (Fornatur), Nilde Brun.
All of the materials and actions promoted using the supplementary funding must use the Brazil brand, and the projects submitted by the states must be in accordance with Plano Aquarela, a plan for promoting the image of Brazil Brazil in the international market.
"Aside from complementing the commercial promotion agenda, which already includes over 300 actions abroad in 2010, the objective of the Embratur is to provide support for the states to strengthen their promotion in priority markets," said the president of the Embratur, Jeanine Pires, also in a press release.
In general lines, the extra funding will be available for the following actions: advertising campaigns for end consumers and international trade, publications and audiovisual material for operators and travel agents, campaigns for foreign tourists staying in Brazil, caravans to Brazilian destinations for international operators (Caravana Brasil), promotional actions at events of the Embratur’s international promotion agenda for 2010, press trips with foreign journalists, production of image archives and burning of CDs with high-resolution photographs.
