São Paulo – Steel industry is expected to be up 5.3% in 2020 to 34.2 million tonnes in Brazil, industry association Instituto Aço Brasil (IABr) reported this Thursday (5). That would mean a rebound over 2019, which saw lackluster economic performance take away from industry results.
For 2019, the IABr forecasts a 2.3% drop in domestic sales to 18.5 million tonnes and an 8.2% drop in output to 32.5 million tonnes. Exports are seen dropping 6.7% to 13 million tonnes.
