São Paulo – The Tunisian Slim Fsili put into operation this month a travel operator specialized in trips to Morocco, an Arab country in North Africa. The company is going to offer the land part of packages to Brazilian travel operators. Fsili already manages another two brands in the area, one called Tunísia Tur and another named Malta Tur, each turned to the respective country. With this third initiative, the businessman plans to take, this year alone, some 2,500 Brazilians to Morocco.
Fsili’s company, however, does not sell packages directly to the public, nor to travel agencies. The company sells the routes – with hotel stays and outings – to travel operators, who create their packages. Travel operators are those that prepare the packages and sell them to agencies. Agencies, in turn, sell these packages to the public. According to Fsili, one of the objectives, with the opening of the new operator, is to offer joint trips to Tunisia and Morocco.
The Tunisian businessman also plans to make use of the Fifa Club Wold Cup, to take place in Morocco this and next year. In case any Brazilian is qualified, Marrocos Tur should operate offering packages for the event. The 2,500 Brazilians the company forecasts sending to the Arab country, however, do not consider this hypothesis. Depending on what Brazilian team qualifies, the figure could grow significantly. According to Fsili, some of the operators with which he works have already closed partnerships with teams.
The Tunisian says that there are several routes to Morocco, from the most luxurious to the simpler ones. Some packages are developed exclusively for specific operators and others are standard, offered with certain regularity. Morocco, according to Fsili, has good hotel structure. What normally attracts tourists to the region, he said, is history, culture, the desert and the beaches of the country. But Morocco, he said, also offers ski resorts, for example. “From oases to ski,” he said, illustrating what a trip to the country may offer. There are also, according to Fsili, good possibilities for shopping, in places like Fez, Marrakesh and Rabat.
The advantage of operators working with Marrocos Tur, according to the entrepreneur, is the fact that they can develop a 100% Brazilian tour. Many worked with Spanish companies, so when the tourists arrived in the region, they were addressed in Spanish. With Marrocos Tur, travellers will be addressed in Portuguese. Apart from that, the company offers training to operators and invests in marketing to promote the destination, taking, for example, journalists to visit the region.
To Tunisia, another Arab country in which Fsili operates, 500 tourists travelled through partner agencies in 2012. The businessman has an office in São Paulo, through which he manages his three brands. He also has plans to expand, in the near future, to other countries in America, like the United States and Argentina, the latter serving as a base for other countries in South America. The idea is to have representatives in each country.
Slim Fsili is Tunisian and has been living in Brazil since 2007. Before coming to the country, however, he had already operated with tourism in Tunisia. In São Paulo, soon after he arrived, Fsili worked with marketing and then with a travel operator. In 2011, however, he opened his own company, first as an operator turned to Tunsia, then, in 2012, to Malta, and now, in 2013, to Morocco. Regarding destinations, however, he says that is where it will end. In his marketing operations turned to Tunisia and Morocco, Fsili counts on the support of the embassies in Brasília, as well as with the tourism office of each country.
