Brasília – Survey of the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) released this Friday (21st) shows that output and job creation in the sector continue to fall at the beginning of the second semester. According to the confederation, the output evolution index stood at 44 points in July. By the confederation’s criteria, values below 50 points point to a decline of output.
The indicator of evolution in the number of employees went from 40.7 in June to 40.8 points in July. According to CNI, the lower the indicator, in comparison to the 50 points threshold, the higher the unemployment.
The average utilization of the average installed capacity (UCI, in the Portuguese acronym) increased 1 percentage point and reached 66% in July. CNI also reported that the index of actual over planned inventory dropped from 53.1 to 52.3 points. The indicator – above 50 points – shows high inventories over the planned output estimation.
In August, the index for expectation for the next six months over demand stood at 46.3 points, the one for input purchases stood at 44 points and the one for the number of employees reached 42.2 points, data that shows that entrepreneurs surveyed by CNI are pessimistic in relation to future demand.
The survey was done from August 3rd to 13th, with 2,492 industries throughout Brazil. The surveyed industries, by size, are divided as followed: 1,028 small, 892 medium-size and 572 large industries.
