São Paulo – The Sudanese minister of International Relations, Ali Ahmed Karti, kept appointments this Thursday (25th) in Belo Horizonte, the capital of the state of Minas Gerais, aiming to establish closer ties between the state and his country. He was received by state governor Antonio Anastasia, at the Tiradentes palace (seat of the government), and by the vice-president of the Federation of Industries of the State of Minas Gerais (Fiemg), Romeu Scarioli, at the organization’s headquarters.
According to information supplied by the Fiemg press office, Scarioli told the minister that the visit was of utmost importance for opening doors between the African country and the state of Minas Gerais. "We have placed the Fiemg at the government’s disposal. I believe that we may be the link to facilitate talks between Minas and Sudan," said the vice-president, adding that the current scenario in both countries is favourable to doing business.
The minister, according to information supplied by the Fiemg, claimed that Sudan regards Brazil, and Minas Gerais, as a potential strategic partner for diversifying the economy of the country, whose exports are still very much focused on oil. "We hope that this partnership will be fruitful to both sides," said Karti.
During his visits, the minister was accompanied by the Sudanese ambassador to the Brazilian capital Brasília, Abd Elghani Elnaim Awad Elkarim, and the Brazilian ambassador to Sudan, Antônio Carlos do Nascimento Pedro. The Sudanese authority also visited Brasília, where he was received by ministers, and will attend meetings in São Paulo this Friday (26th), the last day of the trip.
